Baumgardner vs Linardatou 2: Undisputed Champion Seeks Rematch Revenge in Homecoming

Reigning undisputed super-featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner returns to her home of Detroit for the first time as a professional to defend her crown against Christina Linardatou.

But five years on from that sole loss and now the undisputed division ruler, Baumgardner looks to showcase her progress and rise to prominence since their first meeting by securing rematch redemption.

Baumgardner vs Linardatou 2 Fight Preview

Since suffering that only defeat back in 2018, Baumgardner has worked her way to the pinnacle of women’s boxing and become one of the leading names in the sport.

‘The Bomb’ is currently riding an eight-fight win streak since then, including high-profile victories over Terri Harper, Mikaela Mayer and Elhem Mekhaled, which now see her reign as undisputed champion.

One of the top pound-for-pound fighters on the planet, Baumgardner now looks to put on a show for her home supporters in Detroit this weekend with another eye-catching performance.

Avenging the loss to Linardatou will further add to her ever-growing legacy and set up even more prosperous potential match-ups on the horizon.

But Greek challenger Linardatou will be entering with an aura of confidence herself, holding the initial victory over Baumgardner and coming off back-to-back wins, including a light-welterweight title success.

Linardatou’s two career defeats have come at a higher weight than the 130 pounds she will contest Baumgardner at this weekend and against two top level opponents.

In 2016 she came up short against former world champion Delfine Persoon then was outpointed by all-time great Katie Taylor three years later.

But Baumgardner is enjoying the peak of her career right now and looks set to maintain her rampant run to set up a strong end to the year.

Arriving back to Detroit for the first time as a pro and now the undisputed ruler at super-featherweight, the stage is set for Baumgardner to deliver another career-boosting performance on a huge homecoming fight night.
