The Biggest Potential 2023 Boxing Fights

The New Year has brought fresh optimism among boxing fans that the biggest and best fights will be made across 2023.

There are already talks and rumours of the top names in the sport facing off in the ring in the coming months.

With many mouth-watering match-ups seemingly on the horizon, BOXRAW look at the biggest potential 2023 boxing fights that could happen.

Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia

Starting with the big one that already looks set to be agreed. Gervonta Davis added to his growing reputation as one of the biggest punchers and draws in boxing with another January knockout victory.

‘Tank’ broke down and stopped Hector Luis Garcia in Washington, D.C. in what was widely seen as a tune-up fight for the highly-awaited showdown against Ryan Garcia in April.

In what would be a massive pay-per-view spectacle in America, both men have become top stars with their own sizeable fanbases, and a clash would undoubtedly prove to be one of the biggest fights in recent years.

Their rivalry has seen them trade jabs online and a reported confrontation at a club last year added to the intensity between them.

Davis vs Garcia, thankfully, looks likely to finally take place in the coming months.

Terence Crawford vs Errol Spence Jr.

The undisputed welterweight meeting between champions Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. has been one of the most desired fights for fans for many years.

At times it looked as if a deal was close to what would be a genuine mega-fight, but negotiations have then seemingly stalled.

Spence is set to move up in weight to face Keith Thurman next, but the potential Crawford clash could be lined up with victory.

There’s always the risk this could become one of those great fights that frustratingly never gets made in the end.

But, if ‘Bud’ and Spence are ever going to collide in the ring, 2023 looks set to be the year it finally happens. Watch this space.

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk

Boxing has been without an undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 2000.

But the wait for one clear division ruler could be over soon, as current heavyweight champions Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk edge closer to a showdown.

Ukrainian maestro Usyk is coming off back-to-back wins over Anthony Joshua and the former undisputed cruiserweight king has Fury in his sights next.

Two-time heavyweight champion Fury made it clear he wants his fellow title holder next, and their anticipated encounter could take place early this year.

In an intriguing battle of size and ring skills, Fury vs Usyk would undoubtedly be a massive event, with the eventual winner making history to reign undisputed.

Dmitry Bivol vs Artur Beterbiev

After a great 2022 in which Dmitry Bivol was crowned the Fighter of the Year, the reigning light-heavyweight champion has set himself for even bigger match-ups.

A Canelo Alvarez rematch was spoken about but an undisputed showdown with Artur Beterbiev is one that has stood out more for fans and Bivol himself.

Beterbiev is preparing to defend his own titles against Anthony Yarde next, while Bivol is fresh off a dominant triumph over Mexican Gilberto Ramirez at the backend of last year.

All roads could be leading to the pair colliding in what would be a huge battle between two unbeaten champions later in 2023.

Canelo Alvarez vs David Benavidez

Despite coming up short in his pursuit of another light-heavyweight title against Dmitry Bivol, pound-for-pound star Canelo Alvarez is still keen on a rematch.

Bivol didn’t express as much of an interest, being more focused on a legacy-defining fight against Artur Beterbiev.

But another mega-fight for Canelo down the line is against super-middleweight rival David Benavidez.

The latter fighter must first overcome Caleb Plant in their upcoming encounter for any prosperous match-up with Canelo to come to fruition.

Meanwhile, Alvarez is reportedly tipped to take on John Ryder on his May return from injury, meaning Benavidez is a possibility in September.

Naoya Inoue vs Stephen Fulton Jr.

In the smaller divisions, Naoya Inoue vs Stephen Fulton Jr. is a possible super-fight to determine who’s the number one man at super-bantamweight.

‘The Monster’ from Japan became the undisputed ruler at bantamweight with a destructive win over Paul Butler in December, while Philly’s ‘Cool Boy’ is the unified champion at 122 pounds.

Inoue admitted he wants to jump up divisions to contest Fulton and the door seems to be open for the undefeated duo to trade leather in 2023.

Devin Haney vs Vasyl Lomachenko

In a meeting of the young, upcoming star and an all-time modern great, Devin Haney vs Vasyl Lomachenko is a hugely interesting fight.

Haney, the reigning undisputed lightweight champion, is now seeking to fully assert his status as top dog at 135 pounds.

While ‘Loma’ is still a strong force in the division and has long desired the undisputed crown to add to his already distinguished list of feats.

The two fighters, at contrasting points in their respective careers, look more than likely of coming face-to-face in the ring during the coming months.

Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano II

All eyes were on Madison Square Garden last summer when Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano collided for a historic undisputed showdown.

It was Ireland’s superstar Taylor who prevailed in their first enthralling meeting and a rematch has been on the cards ever since the dramatic final bell in New York.

Dublin’s Croke Park has been pushed as the venue for Taylor’s potential grand homecoming and a second scrap with Serrano is the opponent most want to see contest her on Irish territory.

With their initial fight having been an iconic moment for women’s boxing, a rematch would undoubtedly prove to be another monumental night.
