Shields vs. Marshall Fight Preview
In what’s being billed as the biggest fight in women’s boxing history, Shields and Marshall will finally battle to become the undisputed middleweight champion.
The pair’s genuine rivalry has threatened to boil over in recent months, as the two 160 pounds title holders aim to settle their bad blood at the O2 Arena in London.
Their rivalry dates back to their amateur days, when Marshall handed Shields her first and only career defeat to date. It’s a loss that Marshall believes still gets under her upcoming opponent’s skin.
Topping the UK’s first-ever all-women's card, Shields is aiming to secure a legacy-defining victory and further boost her status as ‘the GWOAT’ (Greatest Woman of All-Time). While Marshall looks to add to her ever-growing reputation and catapult herself to boxing superstardom with success.
Shields boasts an incredible resume so far at just 27 years old, being a two-time Olympic Gold medallist, three-division world champion and two-weight undisputed ruler.
Unbeaten Marshall, the reigning WBO middleweight champion, is trained by Tyson Fury’s uncle, Peter, and is on a destructive eight-fight knockout streak stretching back to 2018.
On a monumental night for women’s boxing, both Shields and Marshall will have the opportunity to write their name into the history books with a famous victory in London.
Undercard Preview
The key clash on the undercard sees Mikaela Mayer and Alycia Baumgardner battle it out to become unified super-featherweight champion.
Mayer, holder of the WBO and IBF titles, will face WBC champion Baumgardner in the co-main event, as they aim to settle their own bitter rivalry.
Rising prospect Caroline Dubois will also feature against Milena Koleva, while 2020 Olympic champion Lauren Price and Bronze medallist Karriss Artingstall both have their second career fights.
Anthony Joshua-managed talent Shannon Ryan will take on Buchra El Quaissi, as April Hunter, Ebonie Jones, Ginny Fuchs and Sarah Liegmann seek victories on the high-profile event as well.
It’s another massive night for women’s boxing, as the sport continues to thrive and reach new levels.
