Return of the Mac: He’s Back!
Since widely outpointing Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, Tyson has had a tough time out of the ring, eager to jump in with the action happening on the heavyweight scene. From criticisms to UKAD delayed hearings to mental health; Fury is back in the game and signing a multi-deal with Frank Warren - he’s declared to gain back what he deems is rightfully his.

After his upset victory, belts were claimed one at a time as he left the sport for the foreseeable future. His positive test for cocaine received a ban from participating in the sport of boxing and his titles stripped from him. Fury is on a mission to win back his belts and prove he is ‘the real heavyweight champion of the world’.
June 9th, also the 40 year anniversary of Ken Norton vs. Larry Holmes will showcase Tyson’s return to the sport at the Manchester Arena. Without an opponent announced, we guess and predict at who could dance with the gypsy king on his return. Many names have been thrown around and the interest in Fury has risen significantly since giving us a date which many have waited so long for.
Fury has shown interest in certain fighters over the past few months, particularly Shannon Briggs. The chant of “Let’s Go Champ” has made noise for Briggs and although at the age of 46, Briggs has shown to get himself into shape and out of obesity as well as a better state of mind after suffering from depression. Fury entertained the idea of the two fighting as messages between the two were revealed. Some insight given was that Fury would like a fight before fighting Briggs so it's likely it won’t be him. It’s an exciting fight and most importantly the build-up is something to look forward to.
Ustinov, Chisora, Price, Kabayel, the list goes on. People are game when it comes to the opportunity to fight Tyson Fury.
The great thing about Fury returning to the sport is that everyone will be willing to fight him. Where some contenders struggle to find opponents, Fury is in the right spot to prove he can do the job. Expect a fringe world level contender and not a high accolade fighter. It will have been 2 years and 7 months since he was last in the ring, Fury has trimmed himself into fighting shape and seems good to go.
Anthony Joshua has claimed the title of top dog in the heavyweight division and it is vitally important that Fury meets him which could be the biggest boxing match in Britain to date. Fury has dealt with his issues outside of the ring and now is the time to deal with the issues inside the ring and become a two-time heavyweight champion.
