Crawford vs Madrimov: ‘Bud’ Seeks Historic Fourth Division Reign

Terence Crawford looks to add to his legacy by becoming a four-division world champion this weekend when he challenges current light-middleweight title holder Israil Madrimov.

'Bud’ made history last year with a dominant stoppage victory over long-standing rival Errol Spence Jr, subsequently becoming undisputed welterweight champion in what was one of the most anticipated fights in decades.

That success saw him cement his status as the pound-for-pound number one and a modern day great, but he now has his sights set on another legacy-building triumph.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of another huge fight night, with a stacked card as part of Saudi Arabia’s first overseas ‘Riyadh Season' event.

Crawford vs Madrimov Fight Preview

Already a three-weight world champion and two-division undisputed ruler, Crawford has secured his greatness in the sport.

But he wants more, and beating 154 pounds titlist, Madrimov, in his jump up weight classes would go a long way in adding to his ever-growing legacy.

Now unbeaten at 40-0, ‘Bud’ has boldly been calling for a monumental showdown against fellow pound-for-pound star and reigning undisputed super-middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez, in the near future.

That would see him leap a further two more divisions against a fellow future Hall of Famer.

It’s a huge potential task but one he has outlined intentions of pushing for regardless, once he can deal with the threat first posed by imminent foe Madrimov in Los Angeles.

Suadi Arabia’s boxing kingpin, Turki Alalshikh, has confirmed that he will soon make an official offer to Canelo for the Crawford clash, which would undoubtedly generate a massive audience globally.

But, ‘Bud’ has business to handle at light-middleweight first this weekend, with Madrimov representing a seemingly imposing risk to his so far flawless record.
